Update

medium_08-03-07_1508.jpg Sorry the long time between updates, but I have been really busy lately. I’ve been working many hours at McDonalds, making sure people get their amount of (un-)healthy food for the day.

A McDonalds update is that they have a new hamburger now called Chili feast Jr. It is really good, but I still like the Big Tasty best :)

Since last time I’ve got:

-a summer job in Skien (where my family lives), so I get to spend all summer with them :)

-a tattoo on my stomach :) It was extremely (!!!) painful getting it, but absolutely worth it :)

- tickets to Josh Grobans concert in Oslo on May 18th! Can’t almost wait:)

I survived Christmas at the Nilsens

medium_DSC01771.JPG
This Christmas has been quite different from what I’m used to. My family and I decided not to celebrate together this year, to make this Christmas easier. I got the privilege to celebrate Christmas with my “other family”, the Nilsens. Evan thought it was a little sad because it was the first Christmas after my dad died, it was a really nice day. It was a day of good food, coffee, presents, laughter and learning new things about the Nilsens. I had a lot of fun.
medium_DSC01777.JPG
On the 25 I went to visit my “grandparents” Irene and Per Erik Olsen. They have been friends of my family since I was a kid. One of their kids, her husband and their kids was there too. We had good food and fellowship.

The truth about me

medium_NLwallpaper2a.jpgThere is something about me I have been trying to hide from people for many years, and suppress hoping it might “go away”. But recently I have decided not to be ashamed anymore!
I know this might change the way people think about me or my judgment on certain areas... but I don’t care anymore...
The truth is that I love boy-band music!!! Yes, I’m talking about Backstreet boys, *Nsync, Nick Lachey and that type of music :)

I'm not 20

So I took this test on the Internet, to see how old I really am… And well… I’m not as young as I always thought I was…

You Are 27 Years Old

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

Snow

medium_DSC00994.JPG
When I looked out the window I saw that it was snowing! The first snow this winter. Now I have to decide how I’m going to look at this:
Negative:
- I can’t drive my scooter for a while…
- The snow will probably only last this night (maybe until tomorrow night) and turn then into slush.
Or positive:
- It reminds me it’s closer to Christmas
- If the snow actually stays on the ground (!), it will brighten up the dark days and bring happiness (I love snow! :)
NB: Picture is old.

Sad news

medium_pray.2.jpegI have some sad news…
My dad has been diagnosed with cancer…
And the doctors say he only has few months left to live…
I believe that prayer is one of our most powerful tools…
And I know that God is greater than any disease…
I therefore ask those of you who want to:
To pray for my dad and that he will be completely healed…
And to pray for my family, that is going through a really hard time right now…
That God will help them through this time…

The skyline

medium_usa_tur_158.jpg
The second time I went to Chicago, we saw the skyline.
It was beautiful!!!
It was the clearest sky in months they said.
I could have stayed there for hours, just watching the view.
It was much more beautiful watching it in real life, than on postcards.
We were at a viewpoint that’s at Adler Planetarium.

I have now posted some pictures from the trip.

Wisdom on the coca cola botle

Theese days you can get wise by drinking coca cola.
They have now started to write words of wisdom on their botles. For example:
"Ask a question and be a fool for five minuts. Don’t ask and be a fool foreverer."

A tribute to my friends - "you know who you are"

Being someone’s friend is the best and most important thing you can be.
The best key to getting good friends is being one.
My friends are the best! I couldn’t dream of better friends than them!
They are always fun to be with, and… well… they’re kind of crazy, but in a good way
Thank you for all you do, just by being who you are!
You mean a lot.
Love you

Growing up today

Youth today live in a completely different world than the former generation did.
The world has changed a lot since the time our parents were children. Some of the things that define our society today is divorce, abortion, violence, sex, irresponsibility, alcohol and drugs.
Many kids grow up in torn families. Without a dad, or a dad that’s never really there.
The safety that should of been the most natural thing, isn’t there anymore, and the awareness that you are loved isn’t a natural thing anymore either. Because of that, many children grow up with a deep longing after love. They have deep scars that can not be seen. They look many places for love, wrong places, that only causes more scars. Many kids are insecure, keeps their feelings inside, wears a mask, have mental problems. There’s a man that once said: “The most difficult thing for kids today is just growing up, and living a normal life.” There is many children and youth that has suicide thoughts, and there is too many that takes their lives. They doesn’t see a future, have no hope, or doesn’t think that anyone loves them, or can love them, that they’re not worth anything.
Because they go through lots of tuff stuff they have to grow up too soon, take responsibility that they are to young to take. Many kids with divorced parents becomes the middleman between to parents that can’t talk with etch other. They hear their parents talking bad about etch other. They see adults that can’t communicate. See their parents drunk. In some cases the kids becomes their parent’s parent. Something is just completely wrong here!
This generation needs God more than anything. The one who heals wounds that can not be seen. Teaches us to forgive. Helps us to look forward. Helps us move on in life. He shows us how important we are. One person can mean the world to another. He tells us the plans that he have for our lives. We have a future. We are here for a reason. He is the dad that newer fails us or hurts us. He keeps all of his promises. He loves us unconditionally, and there is nothing we can do to make him love us more or less.

One day

This is a sort of “Chain letter” email I got a long time ago. I think this is a very good story that tells how important friends are. It's a bit long, but worth reading.

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to my selves, “Why would anyone bring home all of their books home on a Friday? He must really be a nerd.”
I had quite a weekend planned (parties, a football game with my friends tomorrow), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running towards him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses. I saw a tear in his eye. As I handed him his glasses, I said, “Those guys are jerks. They really should get lives.” He looked at me and said; “Hay thanks!” there was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play football on Saturday with me and my friends. He said yes. We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him. Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, “Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!” he laughed and handed me half the books.
Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. When we were seniors, we began to think about college. Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I was going to Duke. I knew we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship. Kyle was valedictorian of our class. I teased him all the time about being a nerd. He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn’t me having to get up there and speak.
Graduation day, I saw Kyle. He looked grate. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than I had and all of the girls loved him. Boy, sometimes I was jealous. Today was one of those days. I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So I smacked him on the back and said, “Hey, big guy, you’ll bee great!” he looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. “Thanks,” he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began “graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach, but mostly your friends. I am going to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story.” I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn’t have to do it later and was carrying all of his stuff home. He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. “Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable.” I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize its depth. Never underestimate the power of your actions. For better or for worse. God puts us all in each other’s lives to impact one another in some way.
“Friends are angles who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.”

Vision – a story… -

”Two old prisoners in the one small cell with no light except what came trough a tiny window three feet above eye level. Both prisoners spent a great deal of time looking at that window, of course. One of them saw the bars – obvious, ugly, metallic reminders of reality. From day to day he grew increasingly discouraged, bitter, angry and hopeless. By contrast, the other prisoner looked through the window to the stars beyond. Hope welled up in that prisoner as he began to think of the possibility of starting a new life in freedom. The prisoners were looking at the same window, but one saw bars while the other saw stars. And the difference in their vision made a huge difference in their lifes”

To encourage

When I went to bible school last year each of the students had to have a 10 min speech about something in front of the class. I choose to speak about why we should encourage each other, because this is something I think is very important, and something people should do more.
So here is the speech:

I am now going to give you 3 good reasons why you should encourage others.

1. Think about your grandmother. Maybe she is sick, or her legs are not like they used to be when she was younger. She might be lonely, does not have the ability to go out of the house as much as before. Then you can give her a call ore pay her a visit. Tell her that you love her, and that she is a grate grandmother. I am sure that she will be so glad, and encouraged. Maybe you made her day ore her week. She might even be so glad that she gives you the entire inheritance ore some cookies (Joke…if you didn’t get that). You will defiantly have a great feeling after. So it’s a blessing to encourage.

2. It’s important to encourage each other.
- Hebrews 3:13 says: “Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
- If we don’t say positive things about each other to each other, how can we know what is good/positive about us?! We see the “negative” things more easier than the positive.
-When we think about something positive about someone, we should say it right away, first chance we have, not hesitate, because then we’ll might forget it.

3. When you urge someone to do something, do it with encouragement.
- When I red about encouraging in the Bible I saw that urging and encouraging was used for the same thing in different translations. Ex. in 1. Thessalonians 3:2.
- When Paul travelled around he encouraged people and strengthened them in their faith. Ex.Acts.20:2.
- Paul often challenged people to encourage and build each other up.
Ex. 1.Thessalonians 5:11: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
And in Hebrews 10:25: “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

The Sky

There is just something special about it.

The sky has always fascinated me. Like...Why is it blue? And how beautiful that blue color is. And when it is sunset, the sky sometimes become red, orange and other beautiful colors. When I sometimes just take a moment to look at the sky, I just get amazed.

The clouds...look so close. And the shape...the clouds can look like anything, and they just keep changing shape. The imagination is the only limit.

Today, as I looked upon the sky I saw some people hang gliding. The wind sometimes takes "control" over the hang glider and it goes around and around. Looks like fun.

It's awesome to think about that something that looks so peaceful as the sky, can be so powerful and dangerous...like thunder and lightning, and twisters and tornadoes...

My birthday

I was so lucky this year that I got to spend my birthday at the Philippines. It was a really great day. I got to spend the entire day with great people. At the end of the day they had singed the birthday-song to me 6 times. The last time at Mc Donalds. The hole staff sang along with a CD they plaid. Very fun.
The day(night) started on our way back to Manila. We stopped at a coffeshop to eat some food after a days long travel. There we meet the San Miguel basketball team. They were over 2 meters tall...I don't think I have ever seen so tall people before.
The morning of may 13 was a good morning. I had a good night sleep and was ready for a new day. After breakfast we went to a local church in Manila. They had gathered many children from the area. We had some worship songs for them, and we danced and jumped (it was very warm but fun). Maria and a couple of others shared some good word with them. We also played basketball with them.
One of the girls in our team had some troubles with her stomach, but God is god. I prayed for her and she got healed.
Later that day we went to the mall to celebrate and eat. We ate at Kentucky fried chicken (I have had a dream to eat there for a long time). It was very good food there, but the sizes was very small. We ate desert at Mc Donalds and finished the day by eating a wery good cake when we got back to Swiss resort (the place we were living).
