The boy in the prison

One of the last days we were in the Philippines, we visited a prison. The prison was for people before they got to trial. It was usual to be there for about 2-3 years. It was over 300 prisoners there. over 30 woman, and 30 minors (the youngest was 12). The women and minors were separated from the men. At the most there were 49 men in one cell. The cells were about 15 - 20 square meters. And it was divided into "two storages". Most of the minors that is in the cells are there because: They are doing drugs, sniffing glue, staying out after curfew (those who live on the street has no chance to be in by curfew because they don't have a place to be)...
We sang worshipsongs to them and shared good news from the Bible with them. Words of encouragement and hope. About how God is there even tough times are hard.
When we came to the minors cell, my attention immediately was drawn to one boy. He was 12 years old. His face was so pail it was almost white. He looked so sad, and my heart hearted. We shared good news with them also, and sang some songs with actions for them. The kids lissend to the things we said and joined the actions and sang along. I could see that the boys(the one i mentioned earlier) face started to get a smile when we sang. And he joined with the actions. It looked like he had a great time. When we were leaving I could not see any sadness in his face at all. His face was shining. I think we really brought some happiness into there not so good everyday.

My birthday

I was so lucky this year that I got to spend my birthday at the Philippines. It was a really great day. I got to spend the entire day with great people. At the end of the day they had singed the birthday-song to me 6 times. The last time at Mc Donalds. The hole staff sang along with a CD they plaid. Very fun.
The day(night) started on our way back to Manila. We stopped at a coffeshop to eat some food after a days long travel. There we meet the San Miguel basketball team. They were over 2 meters tall...I don't think I have ever seen so tall people before.
The morning of may 13 was a good morning. I had a good night sleep and was ready for a new day. After breakfast we went to a local church in Manila. They had gathered many children from the area. We had some worship songs for them, and we danced and jumped (it was very warm but fun). Maria and a couple of others shared some good word with them. We also played basketball with them.
One of the girls in our team had some troubles with her stomach, but God is god. I prayed for her and she got healed.
Later that day we went to the mall to celebrate and eat. We ate at Kentucky fried chicken (I have had a dream to eat there for a long time). It was very good food there, but the sizes was very small. We ate desert at Mc Donalds and finished the day by eating a wery good cake when we got back to Swiss resort (the place we were living).

God hears prayers

Before we came to the Philippines God told us a lot about what was going to happen there. And we saw that what he said happened. He has answered a lot of our prayers. Even though everyone does not agree. You see, the Philippines is know for their rain, they say it is like the heavens open up and it starts to rain, and then suddenly it stops. One member of the team, I wont say her name, wanted to see that rain. So she prayed that we would experience that rain. So one day it rained. The day we had for relaxing. And we found out that she had prayed for rain. And the entire team decided that she was not aloud pray for it. But she was not satisfied with the rain we got that day, so she prayed again against our will. So the day we were leaving the youth-camp, we sat on the roof of the jeepni(mini-buss), and guess what, it started to rain...It pored down, it was weary hard and cold. And there was lightning and thunder too. We considered strongly to trough her of the car like they did to Jona. But we shoved her mercy and let her stay. It was fun I must admit, we sang worship-songs to God and rain/sun songs on the roof. So Ingvild got what she prayed for. Real Philippino rain. On our cost. But every situation gets how you want it to be. We made the best out of the situation, and had a fun time.

Back from the Philippines

Now I am back home. Norway seems more cold now than ever before. We came from 37 degrees(Philippines) to about 3 degrees (Norway). The trip was great. Many good things have happened. We had a camp for youth for 3 days at Mindoro. At the youth camp people got saved and baptized in The Holy Spirit and 24 people got baptized in water on the last day. At the meetings in the camp the kids heard about what Jesus have done for us (John:16 diagram) and about The holy spirit (almost everyone came to the front to got baptized in THS), and why it's important to get baptized in water. I could clearly see changes in them. One girl from the maniyan tribe that was there was weary shy and had no smile on her face the first day(looked sort of troubled), the second day she was smiling little more, and the last day she was shining with a beautiful smile. When we were having group time after she and many others got baptized in THS, after we had prayed in tongs and seeking God together, we asked the kids what they felt, if they had an experience of THS. She said that she felt a good feeling inside, sort of unexplainable feeling. I could see that she was changed. God had touched her. I will tell you more about what happened at Philippines later.
